Emerging as a Game Changer in the Global AI Data Center Market
BLAD Group, a company reshaping the paradigm of the global digital infrastructure market, announced that it has secured decisive competitiveness for building AI data centers through a 25 year long term power supply agreement with the Paraguayan government.
The contract goes beyond simple construction permits, granting BLAD long term access to electricity at less than 24 dollars per MWh (around 3,300 KRW), one of the lowest rates in the world. This represents a critical advantage for AI data centers, which are highly energy intensive, strengthening both profitability and sustainability for BLAD. Notably, Riot Platforms, the top ranked Nasdaq listed mining company, currently pays 43.95 dollars per MWh, underscoring the significance of BLAD’s achievement.
Based on this strategic power supply agreement with the National Electricity Administration of Paraguay (ANDE), BLAD has secured full administrative support from the city of Naranjal in Alto Paraná, covering permits, land provision, infrastructure development, and future expansion. This marks the third mega scale data center project in Paraguay following Google and Microsoft, establishing an exclusive business model backed by national level support.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global data center electricity demand is expected to more than double by 2030. With electricity costs accounting for up to 60 percent of operating expenses, a full scale “power cost war” is now unfolding among global AI companies.
Paraguay, chosen by BLAD, is a 100 percent renewable energy producer powered by the Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam and boasts the world’s lowest electricity rates. This contract is therefore seen as a hybrid solution that eliminates energy risks while also fulfilling ESG requirements.
